Early '80's I guess. They showed me an old Dec-10 mainframe sitting in the basement. Might have been one of the machines you were working on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728206713477106822.post-8402988441094062782011-03-02T17:30:33.623-05:002011-03-02T17:30:33.623-05:00I didn't pay attention to the Internet for qui...I didn't pay attention to the Internet for quite a while. I was just a "foot soldier", as it were, even if I was on the front lines. It was a lot of hard work, constant change, and staying up all night over and over nursing circuits and babysitting vendors. Maintenance must be done when the customer is asleep, after all, to maintain a service level of "it just works".

Some friends stayed in the business, one of them is giving a presentation at SCALE this weekend.

I traded my pager in for a family and the far harder job of Mr. Mom. The hours are even worse, the pay non-existent and I don't get vacations or weekends, but the rewards are beyond wonderful.Curt-https://www.blogger.com/profile/15378506296755879713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728206713477106822.post-69261194950512944892011-02-26T06:55:18.873-05:002011-02-26T06:55:18.873-05:00Hi Curt
